Lucknow, Dec 13 — The Uttar Pradesh government and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Thursday signed a memorandum of co-operation for 2012-2017, during which the Foundation would assist in various health, nutrition, agricultural and other development programmes

Chief Secretary Javed Usmani directed state government officials, including the principal secretary, health, to submit the progress report every month to him and also urged the Foundation to expedite the formation of the technical support unit, officials said.

Usmani further said that with the technical and managerial assistance of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, issues like child malnutrition, mothers' health and child mortality, will be worked upon.
