Washington, Dec 27 — The Toronto Raptors will miss their rookie centre Jonas Valanciunas for up to six weeks while he recovers from a broken ring finger on his right hand.

Valanciunas was battling for a loose ball under the basket when he fell and was hurt during Toronto's 93-90 victory over Orlando Magic Dec 21 in the NBA basketball tournament, reports Xinhua.

The Lithuanian saw a hand specialist in Toronto who determined that surgery will not be required.

Selected fifth overall in the 2011 NBA draft, Valanciunas has started in all 28 games for the Raptors this season, averaging 7.8 points and 5.2 rebounds. He is fourth in the league among rookies in rebounds and blocks per game.

Indian equity bulls should't anticipate further crude price decline (Currency Corner)
Oil is in a bear market. Over the past few months, both major crude benchmarks - Brent and Western Texas Intermediate (WTI) - have corrected by over 25-30 percent from their 2014 peak. Interestingly, and as it often happens in the financial markets, the timing of this plunge has surprised many. The fundamental factors behind the drop in oil prices—easing - geopolitical tensions, slowing economic growth, especially in the Euro area and China, the Libyan output hitting the supply market again and the US shale oil revolution (the dominant factor) — could have been factored in well before and the plunge could have been smoother and more gradual, unlike the kind of capitulation we are witnessing now.
