New Delhi, Dec 31 (IANS) Furious at his offer of marriage being rejected, a man stabbed his 20-year-old former girlfriend to death Monday near a bustling market here, police said. The jilted lover has been arrested.

New Delhi, Dec 31 — Furious at his offer of marriage being rejected, a man stabbed his 20-year-old former girlfriend to death Monday near a bustling market here, police said. The jilted lover has been arrested.

"The incident was reported at 5 p.m. at Dallupura furniture market in east Delhi," said a senior police police officer.

The accused Devender, in early 20s was arrested from the spot, the officer said.

Police said the woman, a call centre employee, was going to Noida in a car with a male friend when they were intercepted by Devender.

Devender asked the woman to come out of the car. As she got out, Devender started stabbing her.

The woman received three injuries on her thighs, while her friend identified as Gaurav, 24, also injured in the incident, police said.

The girl was taken to Lal Bahadur Shastri (LBS) hospital where doctors declared her dead.
