Los Angeles, Jan 10 (IANS) British actor Henry Cavill has been shortlisted to star in the new "Godzilla" film.

Los Angeles, Jan 10 — British actor Henry Cavill has been shortlisted to star in the new "Godzilla" film.

The 29-year-old, who will soon be seen donning the famous Superman costume in "Man of Steel", is in contention for the lead role in Warner Bros' reboot of the monster franchise, along with "X-Men: First Class" star Caleb Landry Jones and "Killing Them Softly" actor Scoot McNairy.

'The Dark Knight Rises' actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt was said to be the studio's first choice to star in the blockbuster, but he reportedly turned down the role last year, reports contactmusic.com.

The film will be directed by Gareth Edwards.
