Ghaziabad, Jan 10 — Almost fifty people were injured in a clash between police and protestors after the semi-nude body of a six-year-old girl was found here Thursday. The protestors alleged that the girl was raped, blinded and then murdered.

Police used tear gas shells and rubber bullets and fired in the air to disperse the protestors who had blocked National Highway 58.

The girl's father said his daughter went missing around 6 p.m. Wednesday and when he went to the police, they refused to help.

In the morning, the girl's body was found in a field along a road. Her face had multiple injuries.

Superintendent of Police (City) Shiv Shankar Yadav said police had to use force since the protestors started stone pelting in which five policemen were injured.

Yadav said the girl's body has been sent for post-mortem.
