Spears quits 'The X Factor'

Jan 10 2013, 1:09pm CST | by

Los Angeles, Jan 11 (IANS) Singer Britney Spears has reportedly quit the US singing reality show "The X Factor" to focus on her singing career.

Los Angeles, Jan 11 — Singer Britney Spears has reportedly quit the US singing reality show "The X Factor" to focus on her singing career.

The singer will not return for the next season of the show, which she has earlier judged with Demi Lovato and LA Reid.

"Britney loves Simon (Cowell). She likes Demi Lovato, but her thing is music," thesun.co.uk quoted a source as saying.

However, if some other reports are to be believed, Spears was unable to meet Cowell's expectations, and he was planning to fire her. She just decided to leave rather than get fired.

"Britney and her team knew it was unlikely she would be asked back as a judge. The producers have already been making other plans for next season over the holidays," a source said.

"The reality is that towards the end of last season, the main players knew they wanted to replace both Britney and LA Reid," the source added.
