China exports one mn vehicles for first time

Beijing, Jan 22 (IANS) China's vehicle exports have topped the one-million mark for the first time, latest statistics show.

Beijing, Jan 22 — China's vehicle exports have topped the one-million mark for the first time, latest statistics show.

In 2012, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers said the country delivered a total of 1,056,100 vehicles abroad, a 29.7 percent rise from 2011, the China Daily reported.

Though the year-on-year growth was 50 percent in the previous year, the rate was still higher than the 4.3 percent increase for the domestic market.

Passenger cars accounted for 45 percent of the exports while trucks accounted for 28 percent, the report said.

Chery Automobile Co. Ltd. and Zhejiang Geely Holding Group both saw exports of over 100,000 units in 2012, followed by Great Wall Motors Co. Ltd., SAIC Motor Corp. Ltd. and Chongqing Lifan Industry Co.
