New Delhi, Jan 31 — Another accused in a shootout involving cattle thieves was arrested here, police said Thursday. The number of accused taken into custody for the incident earlier this month has now reached seven.

Hasrat, 21, who fled from the spot of the shootout with police in west Delhi's Pitampura on the intervening night of Jan 18-19, was arrested from Seelampur metro station in east Delhi Wednesday morning, police said.

He has been sent to two days' police custody. Co-accused Asif is still on the run, police said.

Hasrat, a resident of Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad district, along with his associates started firing on a police team which tried to stop his truck laden with cattle on the day of the incident, police said.

Three police vehicles were allegedly damaged during the firing by the culprits.

Four accused Sanwar, Khalid, Ankur and Anwar, all residents of Ghaziabad, were apprehended soon after the shootout. Co-accused Yakub died in hospital, police said.

Fifth accused Tasleem was arrested Jan 20, police said.

A vehicle, three stolen cows, one calf and a buffalo were recovered from the spot with some firearms and live cartridges, police said.
