Abu Dhabi, June 22 (IANS/WAM) More than 300 of the UAE's young volunteers have been honoured by the Emirates Foundation for Youth Development.

The volunteers worked under the Takatof Programme for Social Volunteering.

The recognition ceremony honoured the volunteers for their remarkable efforts in community service during the first half of 2013.

Zakki Nusseibh, advisor at the UAE ministry of presidential affairs, and Clare Woodcraft, CEO of Emirates Foundation for Youth Development, spoke of their personal volunteering experiences and the important role volunteering has in building an individual's personality.

Among those honoured were the team leaders of the national Desert Clean-up Campaign, Earth Hour and Home Makeover projects.
