South Korea's consumer price inflation stays low

Seoul, July 1 — South Korea's consumer price inflation stayed at the lowest level in nearly 14 years for two straight months due to the persistently stable picture of farm goods and oil prices, a government report showed Monday.

Consumer prices rose 1 percent in June from a year earlier, stayed at the level for the second consecutive month, according to a report by Statistics Korea. From a month before, the prices fell 0.1 percent, reported Xinhua.

The on-year figure was the lowest since September 1999 when the prices gained 0.8 percent, and remained in the 1-percent range for eight straight months.

The trend of stable prices was attributed to a continued fall in farm goods and petroleum product prices coming from good weathers and stable crude oil prices. Prices for agricultural and oil products declined 4.7 percent and 0.1 percent each in June from the prior month.

Byron Wien Makes The Case For Another 17% Rally In Stocks (DIA, SPX, SPY, QQQ)

Jul 29 2014 8:19am CDT | Source: Business Insider

The main ingredients for Wien's calculation: 3% economic growth, 7% earnings growth, and continued stock buybacks. From Wien's latest post on Blackstone's blog: "One of the problems limiting investor enthusiasm may be valuation. If the S&P 500 earns $115 in 2014, it is ...

Market Outlook - Busy Week On Tap

Jul 28 2014 12:31am CDT | Source: SeekingAlpha

By Price Headley: Although the market's uptrend may still technically be intact, there's no denying it's in question now. The very day after the S&P 500 (SPX) (NYSEARCA:SPY) pushed its way past a key resistance line, it also fell back under it ... in spades. That pullback didn't crush the uptrend, but we're close to falling off the edge of the proverbial cliff. We'll look at the make-or-break lines in a mom ...
