2013 Shared-Use Mobility Summit - Save the Date: October 10-11, 2013; San Francisco, California

Aug 28 2013, 9:04pm CDT | by PR.com

The Shared-Use Mobility Summit is a two-day event facilitating a lively dialogue among mobility providers, policymakers, governmental agencies, non-profits, affiliated industries, technologists, academics, and stakeholders on the current state of the practice, opportunities, and obstacles to market expansion in the fields of carsharing, one-way carsharing, peer-to-peer (P2P) carsharing, public bikesharing, ridesharing/ridematching, and related sharing economy companies.

San Francisco, CA, August 28, 2013 --(PR.com)-- A new sharing economy has emerged in urban transportation networks. Carsharing, ridesharing, and bikesharing networks are leveraging social networks, wireless communication, and shared resources to change urban transportation systems in unprecedented ways. And new policy frameworks are needed to better develop and integrate these services at the local and national level.

On October 10 and 11, the Shared-Use Mobility Summit hosted by UC Berkeley’s Transportation Research Center (TSRC) will take place in San Francisco, California at the Hilton San Francisco Financial District.

This first-ever cross-industry summit will connect shared-use professionals and enthusiasts from across North America to collaborate on creating the future of the shared-use mobility space. A wide-range of experts from business, advocacy, academia, and government will discuss the impacts of shared-use mobility systems, best practices, opportunities and key strategies for increasing shared-use mobility expansion and integration.

The summit will explore various topics including infrastructure development, multi-modal integration, insurance, social and environmental impacts, and economic growth and sustainability.

“We expect this groundbreaking summit to spark a lively dialogue on the integration of shared-use mobility services into the future of transportation planning and policy,” said Dr. Susan Shaheen, Co-Director at TSCR. “The goal of this summit is to help shape the agenda for next steps, education and outreach, collaboration, policy development, and future research.”

Conference supporters and partners include: The Rockefeller Foundation, The Federal Highway Administration, The Carsharing Association, Bikeshare.com, ITS America, The Metropolitan Transportation Commission, Ridesharing Institute, Sustainable Mobility & Accessibility Research & Transformation, University of Michigan (SMART), Transportation Research Board of the National Academies. Sponsors include State Farm Insurance Company, Toyota Motor Company, Daimler (car2go N.A., LLC.), BMW (Drive-Now), Zipcar, Capital Corridor, Cubic Transportation Systems, Inc., get2kno, Inc., and Zimride, Inc.
