Seon to Donate Bus Camera System Proceeds to Anti-bullying Efforts

Oct 2 2013, 6:52am CDT | by PR.com

Coquitlam, Canada, October 02, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Seon is pleased to kick off National Bullying Prevention Month by announcing that they will donate a portion of the proceeds of every bus camera system sold between October 1st and December 31st to anti-bullying education and awareness campaigns like, “The Bully Project.” It is expected that the total donation could amount to upwards of $25,000.

“Bullying is a growing epidemic among school-aged children — our school bus cameras capture evidence of it every day,” says Terry Akiyama, President of Seon. “This year we wanted to go one step further to help fund community efforts to stomp out bullying.”

In addition to the corporate donation, Seon has a number of initiatives planned to help celebrate National Bullying Prevention Month in October. To promote their ”NO BULLIES ON MY BUS” campaign, Seon is holding a coloring contest, publishing an anti-bullying blog series, and distributing anti-bullying buttons at the National Association for Pupil Transportation’s (NAPT) Annual Conference and Tradeshow, October 18-24.

“Bullying can happen anywhere — in the classroom, on the playground, online, but it often starts on the ride to school,” says Akiyama. “We believe that creating a safe and respectful environment on the school bus can go a long way in preventing bullying. We encourage everyone to participate in our campaign and support this worthy cause.”

Visit www.seon.com/anti-bullying for more information about the campaign.

Wonkblog: The economic case against Scottish independence

Sep 18 2014 5:01am CDT | Source: The Washington Post

If Scotland votes for independence the best that can be said is it doesn't have to be an economic disaster. And that's all. On Thursday, Scots will take to the polls to decide the fate of the for-now United Kingdom. Specifically, whether to vote "Yes" to leave Britain, or "No" to stay in it. The Nos seem to have a slight edge over the Yeses, but only that. It's close. The pro-independence Scottish National Party (SNP) ...

Smartphone users sticking with the same apps rather than downloading new ones

Sep 18 2014 3:42am CDT | Source: BetaNews

Research has shown that smartphone users are spending more time on their favorite apps rather than downloading new ones, illustrating how difficult it is for new apps and developers to break into the industry. The study, carried out by Boston-based firm Localytics, also found that consumers are now using apps 21 percent more than they did last year. This rise is apparently down to users opening applications more often, rat ...

SCOTLAND IS VOTING ON ITS INDEPENDENCE RIGHT NOW

Sep 18 2014 3:35am CDT | Source: Business Insider

Scotland is voting right now on whether to end its 307-year union with the United Kingdom and go it alone as an independent country. Opinion polls show the country is evenly split with a narrow lead for the pro-UK "No" vote over the pro-independence "Yes" vote. But the difference is within the margin of error so it is literally too close to call. Tomorrow, the Scots will wake up to a brand new, uncertain future. If the country i ...
