Nigeria Adopts the Universal Address System

Oct 24 2013, 8:30am CDT | by PR.com

Toronto, Canada, October 24, 2013 --(PR.com)-- NAC Geographic Products Inc. announced that Polaris Digitech Limited - a pioneer geotechnology company of Nigeria has licensed the NAC Technology to develop a nation-wide NAC (i.e. Universal Address) database and its applications for Nigeria. With Universal Addresses, all mail pieces can be automatically sorted from world level to final household mail boxes, all GPS systems can provide door-to-door navigation services everywhere in the world, and all news reports will have the simplest and most accurate reference of the location of any event in the world.

Nigeria does not have a well established national addressing system. Without home addresses, postal and courier services, efficient emergency services and GPS navigation services to households are very difficult if not impossible. According to the Minister of Communications of Nigeria, Mrs. Omobola Johnson, a national addressing system would not only be critical and essential for postal services, but also imperative for economic development.

Mr. Niyi Okuboyejo, CEO of Polaris Digitech whilst citing examples of Universal Addresses of buildings in Lagos NAC: H8H7C J283F (Sura Shopping Centre) and NAC: H8GSJ J28DL (Adeniji Adele Central Police Station) announced his excitement about this development that will enable Nigeria adopt a holistic approach to property addressing using information communication and technology system consistent with global best practice.

"The adoption of the Universal Address System will make Nigeria directly leap into the era of using digital and global addresses," said Dr. Xinhang Shen, NAC Geographic Products Inc., "it is also a great step toward the unification of all addressing systems in the world."
