Securstore Welcomes Companies Affected by Symantec’s “BackupExec.cloud” Shutdown

Dec 8 2013, 7:09am CST | by PR.com

Securstore offers one-on-one migration help to “BackupExec.cloud” customers.

Boston, MA, December 08, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Securstore, award-winning Cloud Backup and Recovery service provider, welcomes SMBs, Enterprises, IT service providers, and Symantec partners who have been affected by the “BackupExec.Cloud” shutdown, as reported on Symantec’s website here - http://bit.ly/1dGpV9w

According to the message posted on the website, “Backup Exec.Cloud” service subscription will be discontinued (both new subscriptions and renewals) on January 6, 2014; and the service will be completely retired a year later on January 06, 2015. This grace period will allow “Backup Exec.Cloud” customers to migrate their data to alternate cloud services.

This shutdown has been linked to the lack of mobile and content sharing features of “Backup Exec.Cloud”; and that the current “Backup Exec.Cloud” software design cannot accommodate the addition of new features that are being demanded by their customers, such as: Sync, Share and Mobility. As a result, Symantec decided that it would be better off for everyone if the services were shut down. Symantec’s decision to shut down this service is a part of an on-going re-organization drive.

Alexander Eiriksson, Securstore’s COO said, "For the past four years or so, the primary focus has been on Recovery-as-a-Service, as the industry has evolved from just data backup and storage to disaster recovery and business continuity to sync and sharing, and data mobility. Some solutions in the market, including 'Backup Exec.Cloud', do not have these important features, and as a result, might be forced to get out of business. Securstore will help anyone impacted by Symantec’s 'Backup Exec.Cloud' shutdown on a case by case, one-on-one, basis." Eiriksson added, “Securstore brings more than 20 years of expertise to the table to handle the migration needs of clients from Symantec data repositories to ours. We can say with full confidence that “Backup Exec.Cloud” customers will suffer only a minimal interruption during the changeover, and will hardly experience a tremor.”
