Charlotte, NC, January 01, 2014 --(PR.com)-- FitYou Technologies, LLC, a Charlotte-based startup focused on providing innovative mobile and web apps to help people improve their health and fitness, is officially launching its iOS app, FitYou, that makes fitness a game and helps motivate individuals to stay active.

FitYou provides an easy-to-use game platform that allows you to compete with your friends and family across any type of activity, keeping each other accountable and motivated. Most fitness apps don’t have the ability to compete or collaborate directly with friends unless you only compare single activity types such as weight loss, running, biking or feats of strengths (i.e. pushups, pull-ups).

With FitYou, you can now challenge your friends, spouse, local fitness group members, or your office wellness colleagues to exercise more regardless of activity – then cheer each other on.

“As health minded people but busy parents of two kids, my wife and I needed something to help us stop making excuses; get us out of bed, off the couch and out of our rut,” said Alex Dowlin, founder and CEO of FitYou. “Since we both don’t do the same type of activity to get fit, FitYou provided the friendly competition and extra motivation we needed. We worked out more in those 2 weeks than the previous 6 months – then kept going!”

The innovative interface and scoring system makes using the app easy to use and fun. You and your friends can compete for up to 2 weeks and are able to put a friendly wager on the line. After each time you log a workout in FitYou, it sends a notification to the others in the challenge, so they know what activity you did and how many points you scored. FitYou then keeps tally on the dashboard to keep everyone engaged. Chat is available within the challenge to cheer each other on, or talk trash.

The app has several types of challenges that allow you to compete for who can be the most active; 1-vs-1, 1-vs-Group, and Team-vs-Team. Or you can challenge yourself with a daily activity goal. Motivation that fits you.

Everyone who is looking for a little extra motivation to reach their fitness goals should download FitYou on the Apple App Store for free.
