What To Wear: Alt Summit SLC

January 22nd marks Alt Summit’s annual flagship event in Salt Lake City, Utah. Founded by sisters Sara Urquhart and Gabrielle Blair, along with Kate Schoening, Alt has grown to be the premier business conference for pioneering and rookie bloggers in the creative space, with additional events taking place in NYC and SF. For four days, hundreds of lifestyle and design bloggers from foodies to fashionistas, photographers, interior designers, and more – a whole gamut of creative entrepreneurs – come together to learn about blogging best practices and what’s new in the blogging world as well as to connect with marketers.

Over 80 guest speakers are expected at Alt Summit SLC, including keynotes from 3D Robotics CEO, former Wired Magazine editor and best-selling author, Chris Anderson, discussing the power of invention; world-famous graphic designer, Stefan Sagmeister; and artist, Katie Sokoler. Pinterest Co-Founder & CEO Ben Silbermann; Every Mother Counts Founder Christy Turlington Burns; Minted Founder & CEO Mariam Naficy; Cooking Channel’s Kelsey’s Essentials Host Kelsey Nixon; world-renowned photographer, illustrator and blogger, Garance Doré; DwellStudio Founder Christiane Lemieux; Federated Media’s Flora Lels, Dooce Founder Heather B. Armstrong; P.S. – I made this Founder Erica Domesek; Oh Happy Day Founder Jordan Ferney; Brit + Co. Founder & CEO Brit Morin; Design Milk Founder & Editor Jaime Derringer; Apartment 34 Founder Erin Hiemstra; and so many more experts will be sharing their insights too.

Each day is jam-packed with beginning and advanced educational sessions, roundtable discussions and design camps. Topics include everything from revenue streams, branding, technology, social media, accounting, legal and tons more. Of course, there will be plenty of networking opportunities and lots of parties to attend. Here is Alt Summit SLC’s complete schedule.

It’s clear these smart, creative women and men take style serious as a business tool. This pioneering, creative and articulate group understands visual power and uses it as an opportunity to express and reinforce brand messages at conferences. It’s really a way to be a walking business card that emphasizes creativity and professionalism.

Fashion trends at past conferences have been embraced, but authentic, confident and distinct individual style dominates Alt Summit. The recurring style theme has been lively and engaging, which can be interpreted in a variety of ways through the use of color, print/pattern, shape, texture and arrangement. Also, shoes are a distinctive style hit at this particular event. Here are two inspirational winter outfits for Alt Summit SLC.
