Saddleback Memorial Foundation Honors Heritage Society Members

New members’ donations total more than $1 million in support of Saddleback Memorial Medical Center.

Laguna Hills, CA, February 13, 2014 --(PR.com )-- Saddleback Memorial Foundation honored long-time Heritage Society donors and three new members at their annual recognition luncheon on Feb. 6 at El Niguel Country Club in Laguna Niguel.

New members Vicky and Alan Hsia, Dorothy Yeh Chu Louie, and Rae Tso – all residents of Laguna Woods – contributed a combined amount of more than $1 million through planned gifts in support of Saddleback Memorial Medical Center in 2013.

Heritage Society members are donors who support Saddleback Memorial with donations made through bequests, charitable gift annuities, trusts, and other deferred gifts.

“I’m truly grateful for the opportunities I’ve had in this country, and now it’s my turn to reciprocate,” said Rae Tso who gives through a charitable gift annuity. “It’s so much better than having it locked in a savings account. Instead, the annuity provides guaranteed income for me and I have a great deal of satisfaction knowing I’m contributing to the well-being of our community.”

“We are fortunate to have so many generous people who believe in the importance of supporting their local hospital,” said Saddleback Memorial Foundation President Cecilia Belew.

Saddleback Memorial Medical Center Chief Executive Officer Steve Geidt thanked guests for their continued support and spoke about the medical center being included in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Regional Hospitals ranking for the third consecutive year. He updated donors on hospital developments and talked about the new MemorialCare Cancer Institute at Saddleback Memorial opening in May.

Keynote speaker and vascular surgeon Wang Teng, M.D. shared his experience volunteering at the U.S. Army’s Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany. During his two-week stint abroad, Dr. Teng treated wounded U.S. military injured in the line of duty in Afghanistan and Iraq. He shared photos of the conditions in which he and other volunteers worked in to save the lives of wounded warriors.

Belew then honored new Heritage Society members and acknowledged members who made additional planned gifts in the past year.

“I think our donors appreciate that the Foundation provides a variety of ways to support Saddleback Memorial Medical Center,” said Belew. From volunteering time, giving cash donations and giving through deferred gifts – as our wonderful Heritage Society members do – our donors can give in the manner in which they prefer. We in turn, are grateful for all gifts that ultimately touch the lives of the people of our community.”

Business Groups Discuss Immigration Reform
By Milkweed:In Professor Gillis recent article he mentioned that (NYSE:NQ) would have to file a 6K announcing that they fired PwC and that PwC would have to respond to NQ's disclosure about the termination. When I've seen changes in auditors in the past, a letter from the auditor leaving is attached to the 8K or 6K filing that announced the change. The change in auditor took place on 7/18/14 and since we have yet to see PwC respond over a week ...

Beyond Gallup

Jul 28 2014 1:32am CDT | Source: SeekingAlpha

By Joseph Y. Calhoun III: By Jeffrey P. Snider Since I believe the Gallup poll estimates to be significant, I want to revisit them with the addition of one more factor which I think further illustrates the distinct lack of progress toward escape velocity. By Gallup's own definitions, they ask respondents (with representative sampling techniques, including a 50% landline/50% cell mix) what they spent yesterday apart from homes, autos and basic bills. ...
