Rocker Dave Navarro’s bachelor pad in the heart of Hollywood hits the market today. The tattooed guitarist of Jane’s Addiction, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and now host of the Spike TV’s Ink Master, is listing his 1,570-square-foot loft at Hollywood and Vine for $949,000.
Navarro bought the 5th-floor condo at The Broadway Hollywood in 2007 for $1.04 million, according to property records, a year after he split from third wife Carmen Electra. (Records show the 2007 buyer as Navarro’s Spread Entertainment Trust.) The rocker lived in the loft until he recently purchased a home in Hancock Park. “He’s selling it for a change,” says Sklyer Hynes, the Coldwell Banker Previews International agent with the listing.
The condo boasts 15-foot ceilings plus views of both the Capitol Records tower and the Hollywood sign. It’s an open floor plan, with the kitchen and living spaces connected. The bedroom, too, is connected to the overall space, sectioned off with sheer curtains.
Although the space is relatively small, there are plenty of rockstar-esque details. Navarro had the bed–a white, vinyl-upholstered platform–designed specifically for him by Heidi Toll, and it will stay in place if the buyer wants it, Hynes notes. The entryway features crushed vinyl wallpaper. And the bathroom, done in vivid red and black tiles, boasts a custom mirror.
The 10-story Broadway Hollywood tower, built in 1928, is listed on both the California and National Historical registers, which means its buyer will enjoy a tax break of about 40%, Hynes says. The building was originally offices for the Broadway department store, later converted to condos. It lies across the street from the W Hotel and the Pantages Theater, and above the sushi restaurant Katsuya. The common spaces of the building have been updated and a rooftop pool with cabanas and a fireplace was added; the building has a full-service doorman and 24-hour valet.
“I think that it has the makings for a space that anyone can enjoy. But it does have a little bit of a masculine edge to it.” says Hynes. “It’s contemporary, and it does have a glammy, sleek feeling.”
The condo appears to be priced with the celebrity premium in mind. A two-bedroom, two-bath condo in the same building, but one floor lower, is currently listed at $745,000, according to Trulia.
