Seattle, WA, May 06, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Finding the best upright vacuum cleaner today isn’t easy. There are hundreds available and each manufacturer tells you their machine is the best. The truth, however, is that many of them just aren’t up to the task. To help consumers make the right buying decision, Vacuum Cleaner Advisor has just released its annual Best Upright Vacuum List.

Manufacturers who made the cut include Oreck, Hoover, Miele, Dyson, Bissell, and Euro-Pro (Shark). Eleven vacuums make up the list and prices range from about $75 to over $600. The vacuums were chosen based on cost, performance, consumer ratings, features and warranty.

The #1 upright vacuum cleaner on the list is the Shark Navigator Lift Away Rotator. This bagless machine also doubles as a canister vacuum and even has a portable component. Suction is powerful and the brushbar in the nozzle can be turned on or off making the unit effective on both carpet and bare floors. It includes several tools, costs in the neighborhood of $250, and carries a reasonably long 5-year warranty. In addition, consumer ratings are very good.

At #2 is another Shark vacuum, the Navigator Lift-Away Pro. This bagless upright gets top-notch reviews from owners and is powerful, lightweight (at 14 lbs) and very easy to maneuver. In addition, it has the “Lift-Away” feature which is a portable canister with carry handle. The canister provides easy above-floor access and even the ability to clean automobile interiors. The Shark Navigator Lift-Away Pro can be found at some outlets for about $200 and it carries a 5-year warranty.

In 3rd place is the new Dyson DC65 Animal. This machine was just released in early 2014 but it is popular and owner ratings to date are stellar. The DC65 Animal isn’t cheap however and it will set you back $500 or more, but performance is very good and it comes with a host of features. It has a 50+ foot cleaning reach, 4 specialized tools, tremendous suction and good edge cleaning. It also has Ball technology for enhanced maneuverability and an active base plate that optimizes suction on different floor surfaces. In addition, the DC65 is bagless and has washable filters.

The remaining vacuums on the list include 3 lightweight but powerful machines from Oreck, the Hoover UH30010COM (a past favorite), the very affordable Bissell 9595, two elegant German-made units from Miele, and the well-known Dyson DC25 Animal.
