Regensburg, Germany, May 29, 2014 --(PR.com)-- InterNetX has been accepted to the newly founded Domain Name Association (DNA). The nonprofit organization commits itself to the global interests and issues of the domain name industry. Among other things, it aims to help Internet users, companies and organizations understand and benefit from the current expansion of the Internet name space.

The members of the Domain Name Association consist of representatives of companies and individuals who are concerned with the provision, support and distribution of domains. This includes such organizations as registries, registrars, resellers, registry service providers as well as global IT companies such as Google or Amazon.

Thomas Mörz, CEO of InterNetX, will help shape the work of the DNA as a member of the Board of Directors. "Our common goal is to highlight the importance of domain names as an indispensable element for navigating the Internet and to raise awareness for the issues of the domain name industry," says Thomas Mörz. Through the introduction of new domain extensions (new gTLDs) the Internet is experiencing a fundamental change. The DNA will assist Internet users to understand this change and to help strengthen confidence in the new top-level domains. To help achieve this, the organization provides information through pages such as www.whatdomain.org. Here Internet users will find basic information about established TLDs like .DE, .COM or .NET and the introduction of new extensions such as .BERLIN, .EMAIL or .GMBH.

The Domain Name Association is the first industry trade association to represent the interests of the domain industry. The DNA also acts as a central contact at industry events, such as most recently in late April at the NETmundial in São Paulo. Experts from around the world gathered at the conference in the Brazilian metropolis to discuss models for the future of Internet Governance together with representatives from politics and business.

At the same time members of the DNA aim to promote innovative concepts and to develop recommendations for the introduction and use of TLDs. "As one of the leading registrars we have been active in the B2B sector since 1998. We would like to use these many years of industry experience to promote the exchange of ideas," says Thomas Mörz.
