Apple tries very hard to break into fashion consciousness with the Apple Watch. The March issue of Vogue Magazine contains 12 pages with Apple Watch ads. The ads are minimalist shots of the Apple Watch featuring the whole Apple Watch or just details like a clasp or band. The March issue of Vogue is full with ads from luxury fashion brands promoting their spring collections. Apple wants to fit in with Prada and the rest.
The Apple Watch debuted on a print magazine end of last year in a Vogue China magazine. Last week the Apple Watch got featured on the cover of Self magazine worn by Victoria’s Secret model Candice Swanepoel.
The 12-page Vogue ad is marking the biggest print campaign Apple ever did as far as we know. The cost of the Apple Watch print campaign in the Vogue magazine is around $1 million. The rate for a full-page ad in Vogue is according to magazine’s rate card $189,888. The price drops to $169,000 when purchasing 12 pages.
Apple also runs a video ad for the Apple Watch in the digital edition of the Vogue Magazine. 9to5Mac has captured a video of the Apple Watch ad.
Apple can spend what they want on advertising as money is no problem for the most valuable company in the world. What Apple can’t afford is a failure. The company must do everything to make sure the Apple Watch isn’t to keep investors believing.
