Amazon’s music streaming service—Prime Music—getting a nifty update on iOS. The update allows Apple users to enjoy ad-free songs, albums, and playlists. The update also brings Amazon’s Prime Stations, which offers unlimited skips and personalized recommendations based on the listening habits of its users. If this feature sounds familiar, that’s because Amazon already launched Prime Stations on Prime Music for the web and Kindle Fire devices.
Amazon Prime Music version 4.0 for iOS also features a new design, which makes browsing a breeze. The update also adds simplified navigations and a few performance enhancements. Amazon’s Prime Music is available for all Amazon Prime subscribers. The premium service, which costs $99 a year, includes access to Amazon’s Prime Instant Video, Kindle books through the Kindle Lending Library, and free 2-day shipping. Then, there’s Prime Music.
The capability to play songs according to a user’s listening habits isn’t new. In fact, the leading music streaming services today like Spotify, Rdio, Pandora, and iTunes Radio have this feature. Given the case, it won’t be enough to convince Spotify users, for example, to change course. But Amazon isn’t feeling the pressure. When it launched Amazon Prime Music last year, the company said that the idea behind the service is to add more value to its Prime membership.
